Dallas, TX-A high-speed New Years Day crash tragically ended the lives of three teenagers, when their vehicle violently slammed into a guard rail on Loop 288. Leading Dallas, Texas automobile accident attorney, Amy K. Witherite, reports the teens were traveling around 78 mph when the passenger side of the vehicle crashed into the guardrail shortly before midnight, which seriously injured four other occupants as well.

According to the information provided by the Star-Telegram and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a trooper clocked the Ford sedan the teens were traveling in at 78 mph, on Friday, January 1, 2010. Before the trooper could turn his cruiser around and pursue the speeding car, the sedan smacked into the guardrail on North Loop 288 in Denton. Two of the six teenagers traveling in the car, Adrian Alvarez, 18, and Fernando Cuevas, 19, died on impact when they were thrown from the vehicle during the violent collision.

The Tarrant County medical examiners office reported Cuevas died from blunt force trauma to the head; it is unknown what Alvarez's cause of death was. The two teens were pronounced dead at the scene of the horrific crash by responding rescue teams. Another teen, Jose Ramos, 16, was rushed to a hospital by a helicopter, but unfortunately died from his injuries shortly after. The driver and two other passengers, a male and two females, were rushed to area hospitals for treatment of their serious injuries. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the fatal crash. Toxicology reports are also pending to determine if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor. Unfortunately for the family of the deceased and injured teens, this is a sad and tragic beginning to the New Year.
